our Philosophy

We have a production philosophy at Primus centered around creating products that reduce the need for new purchases. Because the longer a Primus product lasts, the lower its climate impact. Therefore, the cornerstones of our production are sustainability and efficiency.

EFFICENCY & LONGEVITY

All our products are crafted to withstand all types of conditions, ensuring reliability for generations to come. Built with repairability in mind, spare parts are readily available, prolonging the lifespan of each item. We not only prioritize durability but also operational reliability, allowing for quick and efficient cooking while minimizing environmental impact. By conserving fuel and resources, Primus products aim to facilitate outdoor adventures with minimal ecological footprint, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and efficiency.

innovation test lab

At Primus’ test lab, our dedicated team of engineers operates admist an array of tools and equipment, creating an ideal environment for designing and testing prototypes under all types of conditions. Each product undergoes rigorous series of performance tests to ensure perfection before moving into production. We make no compromises, and no details are left to chance. That’s why each product must undergo inspection by three pair of hands during assembly. As a final touch, our skilled assemblers ignite all stoves one final time before reaching your hands. These measures guarantee perfection and years of reliable use for many years of adventures.

material

We are dedicated to solid craftsmanship and small-scale production, prioritizing durability and sustainability over cost. Our products are crafted from carefully selected materials, ensuring longevity even in the harshest conditions. We opt for materials with extended lifespans, aiming to minimize our environmental footprint. When it comes time to retire a Primus stove, we ensure that its materials can be repurposed or recycled. Our aim is to design products that not only excel in performance but also contribute to a more sustainable future.

DESIGNED IN SWEDEN

Step back in time to 1892, to a blacksmith workshop in the heart of Stockholm. Here, visionaries F.W. Lindqvist and J.V. Svenson invented the world's first soot-free kerosene stove. Being the first of its kind, they aptly named it Primus (meaning 'first'). The name became synonymous with reliable stoves, becoming the top choice for adventurers embarking on both initial ascents and demanding expeditions. From pioneering journeys to the South Pole with Roald Amundsen in 1911 to the iconic conquest of Mount Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary in 1953, Primus stoves have etched their mark in history, fueling humanity's most extreme adventures, a legacy that lives on to this day!
