ABOUT PRIMUS

OUR HISTORY

MICRON STOVE III

2025

We’re launching the Micron Stove III — our lightest and most packable stove yet, weighing just 58 grams. Designed for adventurers who count every gram, it’s a reliable top-mounted stove that fits right in your pocket.

ULTI

2024

Introducing Ulti — our most wind-resistant gas stove to date, developed for expeditions in cold, snowy, and high-altitude environments. Its catalytic infrared burner delivers powerful performance without an open flame that could be extinguished in strong winds.

PRIMUS-SILVA SWEDEN AB

2023

Silva acquires Primus, and together the companies form Primus-Silva Sweden AB. Like Primus, Silva carries a strong Swedish heritage that goes back to 1933, when the Kjellström brothers invented the world’s first liquid-filled compass.

SERVICE YOUR STOVE

2020

We’re introducing Service Your Stove — a recurring service initiative where we offer free spare parts to extend the lifespan of Primus stoves. The campaign makes it easier to repair rather than replace, and is complemented by updated service and maintenance videos.

PRIMETECH STOVE SET

2017

The Prime Tech Stove Set is awarded an ISPO Award. This all-in-one gas stove with an integrated windscreen features a remote canister hose that provides increased stability.

EXPEDITION SERVICE

2015

We’re launching Expedition Service — dedicated support for expedition stoves, offering troubleshooting, maintenance tips, and spare parts shipped worldwide. If a stove needs to be repaired or replaced, it is sent to our headquarters in Sweden, and the service remains available throughout the product’s lifespan.

NEW LOGO & WINTER GAS

2014

We update our logo for the first time in 50 years. That same year, we introduce Primus Winter Gas with Vapour Mesh for improved cooking performance down to –22 °C.

LITE

2013

We introduce Lite, our smallest all-in-one stove to date.

OMNILITE TI

2011

We launch the Omni Lite Ti — an extremely lightweight titanium expedition stove that runs on multiple fuels and is engineered for demanding conditions. The stove is awarded a Gold Award at the OutDoor Show the same year.

PRIMETECH & CHLUMSKA'S USA-EXPEDITION

2006

We launch PrimeTech, a stove whose burner technology is twice as efficient as conventional gas stoves. That same year, Renata Chlumska begins her 480-day expedition around the United States with a Primus stove in her pack.

MULTIFUEL STOVE TESTED BY GÖRAN KROPP

1996

We launch our Multifuel stove, capable of running on several types of fuel in demanding environments. Göran Kropp puts it to the ultimate test, using the stove during his bike ride to — and ascent of — Mount Everest.

FACTORY IN ESTONIA

1995

We open our factory in Tartu, Estonia.

NEW FACTORIES IN HAGFORS AND FLEN

1956

Production is moved from Lilla Essingen to new factories in Hagfors and Flen. Manufacturing in Flen ends in 1991, and the Hagfors factory closes in 2001.

EVEREST – FIRST ASCENT

1953

Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary become the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest. During the expedition, they cook their meals on a Primus stove.

SOUTH POLE

FACTORY ON LILLA ESSINGEN

1908

We open a factory on Lilla Essingen in Stockholm.
